The Long Hard Road Of Blogging For Money

What’s up webfolk? The last time I wrote for the money blog I was shining the light on a lady that had just survived a 30 day challenge to fund their monthly budget with nothing but gift cards.  An interesting challenge to say the least and some very good results for those of you that are interested in trying to live on a gift card budget. Of course the most important part of a budget is the amount of money coming in that you can depend on. Let me be honest with you all right now I do not in any way depend the money I make from blogging to be accounted for in our families monthly budget.

It is simply to random and to be totally honest with you completely unreliable as a source for a steady income. What ever money we happen to collect from month to month if any is considered a surprise bonus in the old bank account. I have however managed to see a steady upswing in the amount of traffic and money that I was making from this blog network for the months of Feb thru May. Funny how that increase in traffic and money happened at the same time that I was writing and posting alot of original content. This is not the first time that I have used this blog network as my own testing ground and it certainly will not be that last either.

With that said last month I took what I will call a month long break from writing and if you look at the archives from the main page you will see the drop off in the amount of posts from the month before. I went from posting about 40 to 60 posts a month to about to 12 last month and wow did the results show up for me. Let me show you a small bit of the stats from my analytics account.

  • 3,003

Visits Previous: 3,434 (-12.55%)

  • 3,697

Pageviews Previous: 4,553 (-18.80%)

  • 1.23

Pages/Visit Previous: 1.33 (-7.15%)

  • 88.25%

Bounce Rate Previous: 84.89% (+3.96%)

  • 00:00:31

Avg. Time on Site Previous: 00:00:49 (-37.08%)

  • 96.37%

% New VisitsPrevious: 93.83% (+2.71%)

As you can see from my very small and modest traffic record that there was a clear downward slide in the amount of traffic and the amount of page views. The lack of pageviews and visits resulted in a 40% drop in the amount of income that came in from the month before which was no surprise either. It was actually kind of refreshing to see those results and know what caused the downward spiral. The lack of new content being posted on a daily basis is the only thing that changed during that month. So I feel very confident at this point in my blogging adventure in stating that there is no more powerful tool to blogging than you and the original thoughts that you are willing to post. The more of you that you are willing to put out there the more traffic and clicks you are going to get it is I am sorry to tell you that plain and that simple. I hope the evidence that I shared with you here in this post will be enough to prove to you that there are no short cuts when it comes to making money from blogging. You will need to write and write alot!
